The Sumida Hokusai Museum
The Great Wave's creator, in a mirrored building by Kazuyo Sejima.
Katsushika Hokusai — the ukiyo-e master behind 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa' — was born and lived in Sumida. The museum, a sharp mirrored volume by SANAA's Kazuyo Sejima, is compact and excellent, and sits between Ryogoku's sumo arena and Kyu-Yasuda Garden.
