Zojoji Temple
A 600-year-old temple gate with Tokyo Tower rising behind it — one frame, two Japans.
Right beside Tokyo Tower yet missed by most visitors. Walk from the tower to Zojoji and on into Shiba Park and you get the photograph that says it all: the great wooden Sangedatsumon gate of a Buddhist temple founded in 1393, and the red steel tower behind it. Many travelers remember this more than the observation deck. Modern Tokyo meets old Japan.
