Overview

Miyazaki's number-one luxury golf stay, looking out over the Pacific. Four nights in a 50 ㎡ ocean-view twin at the 154-metre Ocean Tower of Phoenix Seagaia Resort — buffet breakfast, pool and onsen included — and three rounds inside the resort: one on Phoenix Country Club, the course of the Dunlop Phoenix Tournament where Tiger Woods won back to back in 2004 and 2005 (green fee and caddie, walking), and two on the Tom Watson Golf Course, laid out by the man himself through the pine forest to the sea (green fee and cart, self-play).     Arrive Miyazaki · Ocean Tower

    Private transfer from Miyazaki Airport to Phoenix Seagaia Resort, about 25 minutes. Check in to your ocean-view room; onsen and dinner at the resort.

  2. Day 02

    Phoenix Country Club

    Resort shuttle to Phoenix Country Club for 18 holes with a caddie on the Dunlop Phoenix tournament course — walk the fairways Tiger Woods won on twice.

  3. Day 03

    Tom Watson Golf Course — round 1

    18 holes on the Tom Watson course through the pines toward the Pacific, cart included, self-play. Evening free — we recommend Miyazaki's charcoal chicken and beef in the city.

  4. Day 04

    Tom Watson Golf Course — round 2

    A second round on the Tom Watson course, then the resort pool and onsen. Add Aoshima or Udo Shrine on request.

  5. Day 05

    Departure

    Breakfast, check out and private transfer to Miyazaki Airport.

Passport & Entry

Getting Around

Cards work almost everywhere now, but small izakaya and shrines are cash-only. 7-Eleven ATMs accept US cards. ¥10,000–20,000 in cash per person is plenty to start.

Tipping Etiquette

Don't tip — anywhere, ever. It's not rude to skip it; it's rude to insist. Great service is the default and it's already in the price.

Restaurant Etiquette

Wait to be seated, say 'sumimasen' to call staff, and slurping noodles is fine. Many small places seat 8–10 people — that's the charm, not a downgrade.

Luggage Forwarding

Japan's takkyubin service ships your suitcase hotel-to-hotel (or to the airport) overnight for about $15. Travel with a day bag and let your luggage meet you there.

Emergency Information

Dial 110 for police, 119 for ambulance/fire. Japan is one of the safest countries on earth. Your 24/7 English support line is on your trip card for anything at all.

Japanese Basics

Konnichiwa (hello), arigatou gozaimasu (thank you), sumimasen (excuse me / sorry / call the waiter — the most useful word in Japan). English signage is everywhere in Tokyo.
