Yanaka Ginza
The Showa-era shopping lane that survived the war — cats, croquettes and a sunset staircase.
Yanaka escaped both the 1923 earthquake and the wartime bombing, so its lanes still feel like mid-century Tokyo. Small craft shops, menchi-katsu stands, the neighborhood's famous cats and the Yuyake Dandan steps, which face the sunset.
